Tourism Police

The district of Thrissur is renowned worldwide for the magnificent festival of Pooram. It is also a center for learning some of the exquisite performing arts of Kerala as well as ancient Indian knowledge systems like Ayurveda.

Tourism Police wing has been functioning in the state for maintaining law and order, preventing attack and harassment on tourists. They also assist the tourists for getting tourist related information, guidance, etc. Tourism police of Thrissur Rural district is functioning at Athirappilly for helping visitors of Athirappilly Waterfalls. A tourism police information counter has been opened at the popular tourist centre at Athirapilly. The counter is located on the approach road, close to the Athirapilly waterfall. Tourists can avail all necessary information from the counter, and can also deposit their belongings in safe custody. The personnel at the counter will also maintain a strict vigil on those who misbehave and create unpleasant situations in the tourist centre. A head constable and six other personnel, in blue shirts, man the police information counter.
