Kodungallur Police station was Working under the name as Cranganoor Police station during British rule. In the year 1979 on august 8th a grave law and order situation araised between a student and police man named Krishnan ended up into severe stone throwing towards the police station followed by a lathy charge and police firing resulted in killing one Latheef. Kodungallur police station is being communally and politically sensitive strict vigil is taking to tackle the situation. The new police station is started functioning in the present building wide GO (Rt) no.1518/2007/Home dated 06.06.2007 at North nada Kodungallur with a ground Police maithan. The famous Thiruvanchikulam siva temple, Sree kurumba bhagavathy temple, Cheraman juma masjid etc are situating in the limit of Kodungallur police station.
