Valappad Circle

The Valapad Circle was formed and started functioning on 14.12.1982 vide GO (MS) No. 148/82/Home dated 07.12.1982 and GO (RT) No. 3797/82/ Home dated 10.12.1982 with Valapad, Mathilakam and Vatanapally Police stations. Later on 20.09.2008 Mathilakam P.S was detached from this circle and attached to the newly formed Kodungallur Police Circle vide GO (MS) 134/8/ Home dtd. 22.08.2008. Previously, the Circle Office was functioning in the building of Valapad Police station. On 16.02.2009 the Office was shifted to the present building near the Government Hospital Valapad which was earlier the Office –cum-residence of CI of police, Valapad. The area is lying in between Arabian Sea and Cannoly Canal. The total area of Valapad Circle is (66.377 sq.km) 41 cents of land in Valapad Village Survey No. 170/B is available in which the old and new Police Station building are situated. 93 cents of land in Valapad Village Survey No. 178/7-B is available in which Circle Office and family quarters are constructed. The area of Valapad Police Station consists of entire jurisdiction of Nattika and Valapad Panchayaths and 2 wards of Thalikulam Panchayaths. The Police Station was opened as per G.O.RT.3342/83/Home dated 29.10.1983 and the area extends the village of Engandiyur, Vatanapally, and a part of Thalikulam. The area lies between Arabian Sea to the West and Connolly Canal to East. NH-17 passes throughout the station limit.
